Jason Wu-New York Fashion Week Fall 2009 RTW

Jason Wu
Jason Wu created a magnificent collection for this Fall 2009 RTW Season in New York. He was inspired by Arthur Rackham who illustrated Alice in Wonderland (see image at bottom of post). While many of his pieces were simple, they included beautiful embroidered hem lines and were styled with elegant jewelry. There were day wear skirts and dress and evening wear gowns as well. What did you think of this collection?

Jason Wu made headlines this year when Michelle Obama famously wore one of his gowns for the Innaugeration Ball. He was born in Taiwan and moved to Vancouver and began working for Integrity Toys as a designer at the age of 16. He was creative direction by the age of 17! He eventually went on to study at Parsons The New School for Design and launched his first ready to wear collection in 2006. He recently won the Fashion Group International's Rising Star for Women's Ready to Wear in 2008 and was named a finalist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in July 2008.
