Fall 2008 Ready to Wear - Plaid - The Good the Bad and the just plain ugly !

Well here it is. I spent some time going through the fall 2008 ready to wear collections and picking out some trends. Plaid is definitely one of them. I think that Ralph Lauren definitely did it best.

Alexander McQueen-His collections are very exciting but these two pieces do not work well together. The jacket might be ok on its own.

Alexandre Herchcovitch-This shape would not be flattering at all! The skirt just seems all wrong.

Alexandre Herchcovitch-This is cute! Paired with some cute leggings or tights or even black jeans.

Anna Sui

Anne Valerie Hash

Badgley Mischka-This works well.

Boy Band of Outsiders-Some of the designers from this house were featured in this months W Magazine. I really like the plaid vest, it can be worn with anything. It can be dressed up or down. The pieces fit the model really well.

Carolina Herrera

Dolce & Gabbana-I don't know how flattering a high waisted plaid skirt would be.

Dolce & Gabbana-The tights! I have never seen tights like these, but I would wear them! Once again both pieces would look cute individually.

Dsquared-Their collections are great. The pieces fit the model well.

Just Cavalli-Quite cute, but would need to be worn with bottoms that are more fitted to prevent one from looking bulky.

Ralph Lauren-Truly did it best!
What is your favorite look?

If you are not sure about investing in the plaid look, you can always pay a visit to your local thrift store. You should be able to dig something up, and it will be unique and different. If you find something great that is well priced, you can always take it to a seamstress for alterations. (When you are spending so little on clothing, it's easier to spend money on alterations!)

Plaid, I loves it! I think I'm getting addicted. I liked some of the unusual/nontypical takes especially.
